Instagram rotates its internal endpoints and document ids every few weeks, so the repo works until it does not. Add proxies, a session pool, rate-limit backoff and a parser for four contact sources, and the maintenance is the project.

What is the best Instagram scraper for finding leads?
It depends what you want out. If you need raw posts, comments or followers, a general scraping platform or your own script is the right shape. If you want businesses you can email, Builtlead is narrower on purpose: it reads accounts posting on giveaway and promotion hashtags and returns the contact details they publish, billed per contactable lead rather than per request.
Is there a free Instagram scraper?
There are free scripts on GitHub, and they work until Instagram rotates an endpoint or the account gets rate-limited. Builtlead gives new accounts 10 free credits with no card, which is enough to see real leads land before deciding anything.
Do I need proxies or an API key?
No. Searching runs on our infrastructure, which is also why you do not have to connect an Instagram account to collect leads. A session is only needed to send DMs, and Builtlead paces those deliberately — slow is the safety feature.
Does Builtlead have a scraping API?
Not a public one. The webhook connector is the programmatic path: every new lead is POSTed to an endpoint you control as it is found, signed with HMAC-SHA256, and CSV export covers bulk pulls. If you need a pull API, say so — it is the most requested thing that does not exist yet.
Can it scrape followers, comments or stories?
No. Builtlead scrapes what leads to a contact: the accounts posting on the hashtags you pick, their profiles, and the websites they link to. Follower and comment scraping is a different product with a different risk profile.
Will my Instagram account get banned?
Collecting leads does not touch your account at all. Sending DMs does, and automated messaging can get any account rate-limited or restricted — which is why sends are one at a time with a jittered gap you control, and why you should not connect an account you cannot afford to lose.
How fast is it?
Roughly five accounts are read for every contactable lead found, four accounts at a time, and a run keeps harvesting until it hits the target you set. A scrape for 100 contacts typically finishes while you make coffee.
